Section 1: REVIEW
Teachers were given three options to choose from in order to review the talk moves. Each of these options is listed below with links to materials used in preparing for the differentiated staff development. All of this work began with all staff members reflecting upon and completing the Staff Development Module Planning Sheet, linked below.
OPTION 1: Read more about the talk moves.
Teachers that selected this option were given additional reading materials to help them review self-identified talk moves that were indicated as needing review from the Staff Development Module Planning Sheet (linked above). There are many materials found online that can be used to review the talk moves. For example:

Additionally, a review tool for the talk moves was created and shared with teachers selecting the "Read more about the talk moves" option.
A few materials were photocopied and placed in teachers mailboxes along with a post-it note telling them why they were receiving the materials in their mailboxes. There are many online tutorials on how to print onto Post-it Notes. I used the directions found on this website to create my own template in Microsoft Word:

OPTION 2: Participate in a discussion group about particular talk moves.
Teachers that selected this option were assigned a partner or group to help them review self-identified talk moves that were indicated as needing review from the Staff Development Module Planning Sheet (linked above). For each talk move discussed, participants were asked to develop as complete an answer as possible. Notes created during the conversation were given to the Instructional Coach upon completion of the conversation.
During the conversation, participants will discuss what the selected talk move is and how is is used, the benefits of the talk moves, how the talk move helps students externalize their thinking, how the talk move deepens a student's own reasoning, and how the participants have used the talk move. Examples of how teachers have used the talk move being discussed is also encouraged.

OPTION 3: Watch a few video clips and practice identifying talk moves.
Teachers that selected this option were given a listing of four video clips to watch and analyze to help them review the self-identified talk moves that were indicated as needing review from the Staff Development Module Planning SheetStaff Development Module Planning SheeStaff Development Module Planning SheStaff Development Module Planning Sheet (linked above). The video clips used for this review option came from the CD included with the book Classroom Discussions In Math: A Teacher's Guide for Using Talk Moves to Support the Common Core and More, Grades K-6: A Multimedia Professional Learning Resource, 3rd edition.
The video clips were analyzed to determine which talk moves were present in each clip and the frequency of each move. A chart listing the goals of the talk moves was included to assist teachers in analyzing the video clips.

Linked below is the Video Clip Observation Form that teachers used to analyze the four videos for the talk moves and the Video Viewing Reminder Post-it Notes document. The forms were printed on bright green paper and placed in teachers mailboxes along with a Post-it Note including directions for completing this review option.
Additionally, a master list of video clips from the text as well as charts indicating which talk moves were found in each video and some specific notes about the clips themselves was created to assist in assigning clips to each teacher that selected this review format. Linked below is the document of analyzed video clips.
Teachers were given three weeks to complete the video clip analysis. This could be done at any time before, during, and after the school day as a laptop was set up at school that included written directions on how to access the video clips on the computer.
